【 摘 要 】

Amazonia extends on a surface of 7 millions km2 and on nine countries with a turbulent history, that obtained their independency 200 years ago. French Guiana, the last European colony in South America, is an exception in this Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking continent. Orientations and history of archaeology vary in these countries, but some permanent features can be seen in the study of the pre-Columbian population of Amazonia. However, modern inhabitants do not know Indigenous history and most of the national academic books consider that the history began after the European conquest. Except for some cases and very recent attempts, the first inhabitants of Amazonia never practiced archaeology. The importance of the oral tradition and of the mythological past compensates for the absence of the history based on the archaeological research. As long as Indigenous people would have not managed the study of their own remains, it would be difficult to don’t speak of colonial archaeology in Amazonia.
