【 摘 要 】
The initial training of Social Education professionals, in a historical moment in which the new four-year University Degree has been fully implemented in a significant number of Spanish universities, entails the strengthening and recovery of teaching methods that enable students to achieve meaningful learning. At a time when “instant” and easily acquired learning has significantly replaced other learning processes that required a slower and more considered pace, it is essential to build theoretical knowledge that helps students to understand and act in the world in which they live.The text that is presented reflects a study of Paulo Freire’s pedagogical thinking, carried out within the framework of the course “Educational Theories and Institutions” of the Degree in Social Education from the Faculty of Science Education (Ourense) of the University of Vigo, during the first term of the academic year 2013-2014. The goals of this experience were: to promote team reading and study habits; to discuss Paulo Freire’s conception of education; to encourage research attitude and the capacity to analyse information considering the different contexts in which the selected topics are addressed. Specifically, the reading seminar allowed us to work in depth on specific topics related to the building of youth condition in the Spanish society, encouraging students to engage in discussion, reflect and exchange ideas and pedagogical knowledge in the classroom.
