【 摘 要 】

The aim of this essay is to verify the interrelationship among regions or countries can lead to a situation of unsustainable environmental space, under the perspective of the ecological economy. At the first, there is an analytical view of the terms, i.e., the concepts of the social-environmental space, sustainability and of unequal, ecological, economical exchange, as well as their interrelationship. Next, we have the analysis of an illustrative case – the carboniferous region is in the state of Santa Catarina. Finally, in the conclusion, the pressure of the environmentalist movement is highlighted, so that the market can absorb, even if partially, ecological an social costs involved in the unequal exchange.
