【 摘 要 】
Corrosion protection performance of leaf extracts from Stylosanthes gracilis on 304 L steel in H2SO4 solution was evaluated using weight loss, electrochemical and surface morphological examinations. Results obtained indicate that the extracts displayed good protection against corrosion of 304 L in H2SO4. From thermodynamics and adsorption considerations the extracts acted as a mixed-type inhibitor at an optimum concentration of 1.2 g/l. The adsorption of the extract on 304 L stainless steel surface was found to be endothermic and obeyed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The protection performance of the extract was confirmed through scanning electron microscopy examinations which revealed a lower population density and degree of pitting corrosion on the specimen immersed in inhibited sulfuric acid as compared to the uninhibited specimens which were massively decorated with pits of various dimensions.
