【 摘 要 】

This text illustrates the difference between medical anthropologyand a medical-anthropological practice by analysing a group of narratives collected during fieldwork among HIV/AIDS patients in the northeast region of the Amazon. These narratives are read having as background the historical, social and economic local processes.
