【 摘 要 】

The installation of the Companhia Taubateana Industrial (CTI) in Taubaté and its gradual expansion in the physical and social environment caused profound changes in this city of the Paraíba Valley. This articles analyzes the nature and the significance of such an impact by comparing the practices of the company with the discourse drafted by the CTI to justify the labor relations.
