【 摘 要 】
This chronicle proposes a reflection on the interest of an environmental history of tourism in order to better grasp the current stakes of the “transition” of tourism towards a sustainable model. This environmental history includes, but is not limited to, nature tourism. More generally, it focuses on the interactions between tourism, in all its forms and dimensions, and the environment. This word is understood as an all-encompassing term, integrating all the biotic and abiotic elements, human and non-human, in which societies are necessarily embedded. After a brief reminder concerning the academic field of environmental history, the article offers an assessment of the work carried out in this field on tourism, examines a few issues that it would seem judicious to explore in greater depth and, finally, questions some of the current avatars of "sustainable” or “green” tourism. In filigree, this column defends the multidisciplinary interest of political ecology studies to grasp the place of tourism in the current ecological disaster.
