【 摘 要 】

This article is intended to make readers aware that a new French edition of Everett C. Hughes’ famous monograph Rencontre de deux mondes. La crise d’industrialisation du Canada français [French Canada in Transition] has been released. A happy conjunction of circumstances has brought this remarkable field study, the original translation of which had been out of print for some 40 years, back into the spotlight today. The following text summarizes not only the study produced by Hughes but also the vast research program he designed, reminding us that Quebec, or French Canada as it was known at that time, has been a topic of great interest to other researchers from the Chicago School, a highly regarded site for sociology research in the United States.
