【 摘 要 】

The passage of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries in the evolution of manufacturing press is marked by the appearance of specific technological developments that will enable the transition from a vertical and closed press to start a more horizontal design where the proliferation of images will be very important. This work aims to make a timely review on the use of images in the newspaper El Debate throughout its whole existence in the first third of the twentieth century and define, from a primarily quantitative methodology, the importance of the graphic element in the formal structures of pages in the newspaper.
