【 摘 要 】
This article is structured around two types of autobiographic writings by Vittorio Foa, first an anti-fascist resistant, then a political prisoner from1935 to 1943, he became after WW II a union-leader, a politician and then a historian. In his epistolary, the narrating of the self is a matter of immediacy. There was no time for the discursive reasoning to be re-thought or re-organized, and so it offers the raw and instant evidence of a historical and sociological given moment. But with his memoirs, written a sixty-year hindsight, the reader is this time confronted with a narrative which shows that the autobiographer nurses the project of offering an investigation into a wider and more objective reality than the personal one: he provides answers to personal questionings and to contemporary,”political”, issues as well, thus mixing, in his writing, identity construction and socio-historical data.
