【 摘 要 】
How to "read"a statue? The Archaeological Museum in Istanbul houses a life-size, male marblestatue from the Antonine period (inv. "124 T"; Cat. Mendel no. 1390),for which the name "Emperor Marcus Aurelius next to a tropaion" hasbeen mistakenly used. The aim of this article is to explain how the statueshould be "read" correctly, whom it really represents and the contextof use from which it originates.
