【 摘 要 】

A growing share of Romania's female population is making increasing investments in human capital. Thesechoices are to a certain extent affecting reproductive behaviour with repercussions on fertility levels at a national level.The aim of this paper is to assess the effects that tertiary education has on birth rates in Romania since the choice toinvest in human capital tends to postpone the decision to reproduce. The method used to determine the influencebetween education and birth rates are of a statistical nature, using data collected from official sources. The expectedresults are of an inverse relationship between investment in human capital and birth rates and fertility levels.
