【 摘 要 】

The global aging process is changing thedemographic structure of the world’s populationand the socio-economic balance between generations. This process urgently raises the questionof the forms of social support for the elderlypopulation, thereby making new requirements onpension systems. The study of the internationalexperience and practice of the Republic ofMoldova, carried out in this article, has revealedthat countries with pension systems that combinevoluntary and mandatory, public and privateschemes are most effective in solving this problem.At the same time, investigation demonstrates thatpension system modernization requires stronganalysis of its possible advantages and disadvantages, taking into consideration the whole setof peculiarities of the Republic of Moldova.
