【 摘 要 】

Religious equality, uniqueness and tolerance. A principialreflection (2) The previous article discussedthree interrelated issues, viz.religious diversity, religious intolerance (and even violence) andthe constitutional acknowledgement of religious freedom and itsimplications in practice. This article builds on insights gained inthe previous article, but also tackles three other closely relatednew issues, viz. religious equality, religious uniqueness andreligious tolerance. The main problems to be answered in thisconnection are the following: If religions are regarded as legallyequal, does it also imply that every one of them can beregarded as of equal value or equally true? If Christians rejectthe principial equality of allreligions, in what sense shouldChristianity be regarded asunique? What should be theground(s) for and nature of religious tolerance in the light of thecommon phenomenon of religious intolerance, conflict and evenviolence?
