【 摘 要 】

Previous issues of Études britanniques contemporaines chose to focus on the agonistic dynamics of British literature and the arts. The present issue explores a paradigm which has hitherto received very little critical attention. The notion of ‘confluence’ implies some form of geological, organic coalescence. It thus puts to the test the dominant paradigms inherited from modernism and its aesthetics of fracture and displacement. The articles gathered here do not so much as offer a systematic poetics of ‘confluence’ as put that alternative paradigm to work. Ranging from Modernism and its fashioning of ‘stream of consciousness’ to recent works in the field of drama or fiction, Ebc 52 aims at experimenting with a metaphor of literature that has remained overlooked or hidden, thus offering also a metatheoretical take on our critical practice.
