Irony re-visited in its pragmatic, comprehensive, discursive and didactical dimensions

【 摘 要 】

This review article examines 97 academic texts, mainly in the Spanish - speaking scope, during the last 25 years. These are grouped into four categories: forms and functions of irony (35 works), understanding of ironic texts (17), irony in specific discursive genres (30), and irony and education (15). From the analysis made, it is clear that irony is conceptually and methodologically re-visited which constitutes a field of research in perspectives and prospectives, susceptible of new approaches, for example in the educational field.
