【 摘 要 】
The bend sensor is a resistive sensor that, due to its material properties, changes its electrical resistance as it is bent. In general, one of its most notable characteristics is its ample versatility. In this sense, this work characterizes, experimentally and by simulation, a sensor of this type to study the feasibility of its use for measuring the volume of water drained through a pipe. Therefore, some basic principles are shown to establish the correlation between the sensor resistance and flow velocity, and a methodology to characterize the bend sensor is described. Also, a comparison between the results obtained from this experimental characterization with a computer simulation is presented. The results indicate that the bend sensor can be a viable option to integrate a water volume meter. Finally, future work is proposed to implement the bend sensor in a hydraulic testing section to confirm its potential through experiments.
