【 摘 要 】

Two statements of Leibniz’ principle of causality are discussed, and their alleged incompatibility with there being causes which are indifferent with respect to their effects is considered. We follow the development of his theory of choice on the basis of his views on causality and indifference. Finally, we attempt to explain why Leibniz maintained that his theory of choice does not rule out freedom.
