(Series Information) European Papers - A Journal on Law and Integration, 2020 5(3), 1569-1571 | European Forum Highlight of 01 December 2020 | (Abstract) This Highlight analyses the recent Joint Proposal for a Council Regulation concerning EU smart sanctions against serious human rights violations and abuses worldwide. The proposed sanctions regime has been a debated issue over the last few years. The Joint Proposal takes an important step forward, with the view of providing the EU with a new tool of Common Foreign and Security Policy, enhancing its leadership in promoting and protecting human rights worldwide.
