【 摘 要 】

The present article advances the concept of sustainabledevelopment at the regional level. A brief review of the literature onsustainable development, be it from primary or secondary sources,reveals that there is a relatively small number of studies in this area atthe national level. Therefore, we considered it appropriate to carry outan analysis regarding macroeconomic indicators in one of thedevelopment regions of our country, namely South-West Oltenia.Sustainable development involves a combination of economic, social,political and environmental policies to ensure effective management ofthe planet. Nevertheless, all these must be accomplished taking intoconsideration the implications of the current economic crisis.
