【 摘 要 】
Nonverbal communication is studied by a worldwide community of researchers. Thousands ofpeer-reviewed papers have been published on the subject (Plusquellec and Denault, 2018). Thesame holds for deception detection. Unfortunately, misconceptions about nonverbal cues todeception are widespread. The general public holds popular beliefs (The Global Deception ResearchTeam, 2006), unfounded or discredited claims are disseminated on social media and television, andpseudoscientific claims, that is, unfounded or discredited claims presented explicitly or implicitly ashaving scientific value, are promoted in manuals and seminars (Denault et al., 2015, 2020, Denaultet al., submitted).
