【 摘 要 】
The geometric features of hysteresis-type response of industrial actuators can be used, in many cases, for their health characterization. In particular, in aircraft applications, it is commonly included in the acceptance criteria. The main objective in this work is to investigate how relevant degradation of a pneumatic actuator manifests on its hysteresis curve and verifies if it may constitute an adequate test for quality acceptance and also for health monitoring purposes. In particular, five different degradation conditions were modeled and investigated, namely, the inlet torque motor orifice clogging, the outlet torque motor orifice clogging, the backlash in the mechanical links, the leakage in the actuator piston seals and elevation of the combined friction. Various quantitative indexes were proposed to aid the task of component degradation analysis. Extensive simulations showed that satisfactory results can be obtained by using these indexes, except for the case of the backlash.
