Thedistribution,statusandtrendsofgrey-facedpetrel(Pterodromamacropteragouldi)populationsaresummarisedfromhistoricalrecordsfromasearlyasthe1800’s,butpredominantlyovera40yearperiodfromthe1970’sand1980’stothepresentday.Wetalliedthemostrecentof104islandpopulationestimatestogiveatotalrangeof72,398-286,268burrowsoveraminimumareaof37,967ha.Onpredator-freeislands(n=9)duringwinter,themeanburrowoccupancyratewas60%(±18%SD).Fewerthan1000burrowsweredetectedfrom20mainlandsitesoveranunspecifiedarea.Implicationsfortheconservationofthisspeciesarediscussed.
