The Relationship Between Professional Quality of Life (ProQol) and General Health in Rajaee Trauma Hospital Staff of Shiraz, Iran

【 摘 要 】

Background:Professionalqualityoflifeisthequalitythateveryonefeelsinrelationtotheirwork.Boththepositiveandnegativeaspectsofdoingajobinfluencetheprofessionalqualityoflife.Themajorityofpeoplespendmoretimeatworkthantheydoanywhereelse,doinganythingelse.Objectives:TheaimofthisresearchwastostudytherelationshipbetweenprofessionalqualityoflifeandgeneralhealthinthestaffsofRajaeetraumahospital.Methods:Thiswasacross-sectionalstudy,whichwasconductedatRajaeetraumahospitalofShirazduringa12-monthperiod(2014).Participantswereselectedbysystematicrandomsampling.Results:Weincluded331staffwithmeanageof29.32(5.1)years,amongstwhotherewere119(36%)malesand212(64%)females.Gender,maritalstatusandeducationdidnotaffectprofessionalqualityoflifeandgeneralhealth,butemergencydepartmentpersonnelcomparedtoothersectorshadhigherprevalenceofdepressionandtraumaticstress.Inaddition,thestaffswereingoodsituationintermsofburnout,secondarytraumaticstress,physicaldysfunction,socialdysfunctionandseveredepressionandinmoderatelevelintermsofcompassionsatisfactionandanxietyandsleepdisorders.Conclusions:Thestudyfindingsconfirmedasignificantrelationshipbetweenprofessionalqualityoflife(ProQol)andgeneralhealthquestionnaire(GHQ)-28dimensions.Reducingburnoutandsecondarytraumaticstressaswellasincreasingcompassionsatisfactionhadadirectimpactondecreaseinmentalhealthproblemsinthestaff.
