【 摘 要 】

Background:Screeningandearlygeneticcounselingprogramsforbeta-thalassemia(BT)areofparamountimportanceduringthepre-pregnancyperiodinhigh-riskindividuals.Objectives:Thecurrentstudyaimedtoevaluatetheefficacyofmotivationalinterviewingoncouples`compliancewithcarriersscreeningforBT.Methods:Thestudywasperformedon80coupleswithsuspectedbloodindexesforthalassemiatrait(meancorpuscularvolume(MCV)lt;80and/ormeancorpuscularhemoglobin(MCH)lt;27andhemoglobin(Hb)A2≤3.5),referredtoZahedanpremaritalcounselingcenter(PCC),Iran,fromApril2015toJanuary2016.Theparticipantswererandomlydividedintomotivationalinterviewing(MI)androutinecare(control)groups;compliancewasconsideredasnumberofcouplesreferringtothecenterafter30dayspost-interventionforre-evaluationofbloodindexes,andinthesecondphase,ifneeded,referringtoZahedanprenataldiagnosis(PND)centerforgenetictesting,withinfivemonths.Results:Inthefirstphase,noncompliancerateswere9.86%and26.03%forthemotivationalinterviewing(MI)andcontrolgroups,respectively.Preventivefraction(PF)indicateda62%reductioninnoncomplianceafteronemonth.Inthesecondphase,fivemonthsafterMI,noncompliancerateswere79.17%and94.74%intheMIandcontrolgroups,respectively(PF=0.17).Conclusions:TheMIgroupshowedbettercompliancewithshort-termBTscreeningprogram,evidencedbyhigherratesofreferraltothePCC.
