Prevalence of Flexible Flatfoot Among School-Age Girls

【 摘 要 】

Background:Flatfootinchildrenisoneofthemostcommonconditionsreferredtophysiatristsforevaluationandtreatment.Itiscausedbythecollapseofthemediallongitudinalarchofthefoot.Objectives:Thestudyaimedtodeterminetheprevalenceofflatfootandfactorsthataffectitinapopulationofchildren.PatientsandMethods:About290elementaryschoolgirlswithanagerangeof6to11yearswereincludedinthisstudy.Fortheassessmentofflatfoot,naviculardroptestwasused.ThegeneralizedjointlaxitywasmeasuredbyBeightonscore.Results:Prevalenceofflexibleflatfootwas34.9%.Flatfootprevalencewashighestamongsix-year-oldandlowestamong11-year-oldchildren(Plt;0.001).Childrenwithjointlaxitywerealsoathigherriskofflatfoot(P=0.01).Conclusions:Thisstudyindicatesthatyoungerschool-agechildrenwithexcessivejointlaxityaremorepredisposedtodevelopflatfoot.
