【 摘 要 】
Introduction:ThisstudywascarriedouttodeterminetheprevalenceofhepatitisBinfectionamongwomenattendingantenatalclinicinGeneralHospital,Minna,Nigerstate.MaterialsandMethods:Bloodsampleswerecollectedfrom200subjectsandanalyzedusinginvitrodiagnosticstripdesignedforthequalitativedeterminationofHepatitisBSurfaceAntigen(HBsAg)inhumanserum.Results:Thirteen(6.5%)outofthe200subjectsinvestigatedwerefoundtobepositiveforhepatitisBinfection.Onthebasisofage,thedistributionofHBVinfectionamongthesub-jectsrevealedthattheagegroup20-29hasthehighestrateofinfectionof10.3%followedindescendingorderby40-49(4.5%),30-39(4.2%)and10-19(0.0%).conclusion:Infectionratewasfoundtoberelatedtothelowlevelofawarenessandthepoorstandardoflivingobservedamongthesubjects.Thestudythereforehighlightstheneedforaninterventionthroughincreasedawareness,provisionofdrugsandimmunizationinthestudyarea.
