【 摘 要 】
Silvernanoparticles,endowedwithpowerfulantimicrobialproperty,arethemostwidelyusednanomaterialinconsumerproducts,withassociatedriskoftheireasyaccesstoenvironmentandfreshwaterecosystemsbysurfacerunoff.Althoughtoxiceffectsofnanosilveronbacterial,fungalandmammaliancellshavebeendocumented,itsimpactonalgalgrowthremainsunknown.nbsp;Pithophoraoedogonianbsp;andnbsp;Charavulgarisnbsp;arepredominantmembersnbsp;ofphotosyntheticeukaryoticalgae,whichformmajorcomponentofglobalaquaticecosystem.Herewereportforthefirsttimethatnanosilverhassignificantadverseeffectsongrowthandmorphologyofthesefilamentousgreenalgaeinadose-dependentmanner.Exposureofalgalthallitoincreasingconcentrationsofsilvernanoparticlesresultedinprogressivedepletioninalgalchlorophyllcontent,chromosomeinstabilityandmitoticdisturbance,associatedwithmorphologicalmalformationsinalgalfilaments.SEMmicrographsrevealeddramaticalterationsincellwallinnanoparticle-treatedalgae,characterizedwithcellwallruptureanddegradationinnbsp;Pithophora.Althoughtheseobservationsunderscoreseveredeleteriouseffectsofnanosilveronaquaticenvironment,theinformationcanalsobeexploitedasabioengineeringstrategytocontrolunwantedandpersistentgrowthofnoxiousalgalweedsthatnbsp;clogthemunicipalwatersupplyandwaterchannelsandproducefoulingofwaterbodies.
