Revisiting the taxonomic status of Rhinolophus ferrumequinum (Schreber, 1774) (Chiroptera: Rhinolophidae) in Turkey

【 摘 要 】

Thegreaterhorseshoebat,Rhinolophusferrumequinum(Schreber,1774),isoneofthemostdistributedbatspeciesinTurkey.Thisstudyisbasedonstatisticalevaluationofthecranialmeasurementsof165specimensfordeterminingwhetheraclinalincreaseinthespeciesthroughoutthecountry.Inaddition,conventionalstainedkaryotypealongwithC-andAg-NORbandedchromosomesofthespecimenswerestudied.Noclinalincreaseinsizeisencounteredfromwesttoeastinthegreaterhorseshoebat.Onthecontrary,SoutheasternAnatolia,EasternAnatolia,CentralAnatolia,westernandcentralBlackSearegionsformaseparatecluster,whiletheMediterranean,AegeanandMarmararegionsformanotheronewithregardtocranialmeasurements.Inaddition,thepopulationsdonotdifferintermsoftheirkaryotypeandbandedchromosomes.
