Appraisal of quantitative losses caused by Trogoderma granarium (Everts) and Tribolium castaneum (Herbst) in different genotypes of wheat, rice and maize during storage

【 摘 要 】
Thestorageofagriculturalcommoditiesiscarriedoutfornumerousreasonsandtherearemanyfactorsaffectingsafestorage,themostimportantofthemaretheinsectpests.Inthepresentinvestigationgenotypesofwheat(ARRI-11,Millat-11,Punjab-11),maize(Kobras,Kermess,702)andrice(SuperBasmati,Basmati86andBasmati515)wereevaluatedfortheirresistanceorsusceptibilitylevelagainstTrogodermagranarium(Everts)andTriboliumcastaneum(Herbst).Theresultswereevaluatedonthebasesofweightlosspercentageandtheirprogenyonlarvalnumbers.TheoverallresultsrevealedthatnoneofthegenotypewascompletelyresistancetotheinfestationcausedbyT.granariumandT.castaneum.Allthesetestedgenotypesvariedsignificantlyintheirdegreeofresistanceintermofinfestationpercentageanddevelopmentofprogeny.Onthebasisofpercentdamage,theleastdamage2.43%(T.castaneum)and4.02%(T.granarium)wasobservedinmaize,followedbyrice3.99%(T.castaneum)and5.69%(T.granarium),andhighestdamagewasnotedinwheat5.43%(T.castaneum)and7.96%(T.granarium)genotypes.Theweightlosswashighestafter90daysofexposureinallthegenotypes.Whiletheresultsregardingthepestpopulationprogenydevelopmentwasinsuchorder;wheat>rice>maize,hencethesegenotypesweredesignatedasthemosttolerantandmostsusceptiblegenotypes.
