【 摘 要 】
Seedgerminationandseedlinggrowthofbeddingplantsareaffectedbyvariousenvironmentalconditionsandcultivationtechniques.Inseedlingcultivationofmanybeddingplants,atopcoatisusedtomaintainsufficientmoisturecontentaroundtheseedsandtoobtainhighgerminationrateandrapidemerging.Therefore,theeffectofsomedifferenttopcoatmaterialswasinvestigatedonseedlinggrowthofmarigold(TageteserectaL.)inthisstudy.Forthispurpose,vermiculite,coarseriversand,quartzsandandsewagesludgewereusedasatopcoatinseedlingcultivationoftwomarigoldcultivars(DiscoveryYellowandDiscoveryOrange).Furthermore,uncoveredtreatmentwasdefinedascontrol.Inthestudy,theeffectsofdifferenttopcoattreatmentontheparametersofseedemergingandthecharacteristicsofseedlingwereevaluated.Emergingpercentage,meanemergingtime,meandailyemerging,speedofemergingandpeakvalueofemergingweredeterminedasaparametersofseedemerging.Plantheight,compactnessvalue,hypocotyllength,epicotyllength,hypocotylthickness,epicotylthickness,rootlength,stemlength,canopyheight,leaflength,numberofleaf,freshanddryweights(root,shootandplant),androot/shootratiowereevaluatedasaplantcharacteristics.Attheendoftheexperiment,maximumemergingpercentageonbothcultivarswasrecordedbyvermiculitetreatment.Besides,emergingpercentageinsewagesludgewasdeterminedtobetakenintoconsideration.Asaconsequenceofthestudy,itwasfoundthatcoarseriversand;quartzsandandvermiculitehadanimportancetoobtaintallerandhigherqualityseedlings.Ontheotherhand,sewagesludgewerefoundremarkablealternativeforstuntedseedlings.
