【 摘 要 】

TostudytheeffectoftheoilextractofOcimumgratissimumleavesonmalereproductivefunctionandfertilityinofadultmalerats.18Malerats,3-4monthsold,weighing220-260gwereadministered(bygastricintubation)theoilextractofOcimumgratissimumleavesattwodoses,100and300mg/kgfor60days.Thecontrolgroupreceiveddistilledwaterforthesameduration.Aftertheendadministration,maleratscoupledwithcoevalfemalerats.Thenanimalsweresacrificedandtheblood,testes,epididymis,werecollectedforparametersanalysesandfertilitypercentage.TherewasasignificantdecreaseintheGSI(P<0.01),Spermmotility(P<0.05),Spermviability(P<0.001),ESR(P<0.001),DSP(P<0.05),leveloftestosteroneintheserum(P<0.05)andFertilitypercentage(P<0.01)afterdaysoftreatmentintreatedratswithhighdose.TheoilextractofOcimumgratissimumleavesatdose(300mg/kg)hadanegativeimpactonthemalereproductivefunctionandfertility
