Uterine Twisting During Pregnancy in Buffaloes: Relatioship Between Clinical Findings and Biochemical Indices

【 摘 要 】

ThetwistingofthegraviduterusduringpregnancyismorecommonintheEgyptianbuffaloesthananyotherdomesticspecies.Availablefeldandhospitalcases(n=36)wereincludedinthisstudy.Thetreatmentprocedureandtheclinicopathologicalfndings(beforedetorsion,afterdetorsion,immediatelyafterbirthand24hoursafterbirth)ofthebuffaloessufferingfromuterinetorsionwereinvestigated.Thetotalnumberofsuccessfullyrolledbuffaloeswassignifcantlyhigher(P<0.05)thanthosefailedtoberolled,andtheseveretorsionneeded>2rollstobecorrected.Caesareansection(C.S)wassuccessfullycompletedinthemajorityofcases.Therateofmaternalandfoetalmortalityincreasedwiththeseverityoftorsion.Mostcasesoftorsionwereaccompaniedwithdilatedcervixthaninsuffcientorclosedcervix.Therateofbloodydischarge(P<0.05)andrupturedfoetalsacsincreasedwiththeseverityoftorsionreachingthehighestwith>270°torsion.Heparinizedbloodsampleswerecollectedtoperformacompletebloodpicture,andplasmasampleswereusedforanalysisofsomebiochemicalparametersandhormones.Theresultsofhaemogramintheaffectedbuffaloeswithuterinetorsionshowednormocyticnormochromicanaemiaandleucocytosisaccompaniedbyneutrophiliaandmonocytosis.Biochemicalanalysisrevealedsignifcant(P<0.01)changesintheplasmalevelsofAST,LDH,glucose,totalprotein,albumin,bloodureanitrogen(BUN)andcreatinineintheaffectedbuffaloesthanthecontrol.Hormonalanalysisshowedsignifcant(P<0.001)increaseinprogesteroneandcortisollevelsinassociationwithasignifcant(P<0.001)decreaseinthelevelofestradiol-17ßintheaffectedbuffaloeswithuterinetorsion.Thepresentstudysuggestedthat,therewasasignifcantchangeregardingthehaemogram,biochemicalconstituentsandhormonalprofles,speciallybeforeandafterdetorsionandimmediatelyafterbirthinEgyptianbuffaloeswithuterinetorsion.
