TheevolutionofthedirectpaymentssystemintheEU,asabasicsupporttoagriculture,ispresented;beginningwiththefirstformsofpaymentsintroducedbytheBritishbeforeUnitedKingdomjoinedtheEuropeanCommunity.ThestandardsystembroughtinbytheMcSharryReformisdiscussed,whichwasalteredbytheFischlerReform,thatintroducedi.a.thesocalledldquo;decouplingrdquo;.TheSAPSSystem,adoptedasanalternativebythenewmembercountriesisanalysedbriefly.Thepaperisfinalizedbypresentationoftheprinciplesofthedirectpaymentssystemfor2014ndash;2020.Oneofthenewelementsinthissystemisthatfarmersareobliged,toamuchgreaterextentthanbefore,tocomplywithpro-ecologicalrequirements,sondash;calledldquo;greeningrdquo;.
