Searching Ability of Pupal Parasitoid, Dirhinus giffardii (Silvestri) on Bactrocera zonata (Saunders) at Various Depths of Plant Debris

【 摘 要 】

Thepresentstudywascarriedouttodeterminethesearchingabilityofpupalparasitoid,DirhinusgiffardiiofBactrocerazonataintheBioControlResearchLaboratory,DepartmentofEntomology,SAU,Tandojam,attemperature27±1ºCand60±5%relativehumidity.Adultsoffruitflywerefedwithwater,sugarandneedomilkpowder,whereas,Dirhinusgiffardiiwerefedwithhoneyandwatersolution.TendaysoldD.giffardieswereusedagainst20pupaeofBactrocerazonataintheexperimentanddatarecordedonparasitizedpupaeandun-parasitizedpupaeafter24,48,72and96hours.Theresultsinalltreatmentsindicatesthathighestparasitizedpupaewereatpeaklevelof(16.66)after72hoursageofpupaeonthedepthof0cminplantdebrisfollowedby4cmdepth(16.33),whereaslowestparasitizedpupaewererecordedat5cmdepth(13.66)after72hoursofageinsideplantdebris.Likewise,thehighestun-parasitizedpupaewereatpeaklevelof(14.00)after24hoursofageofpupaeonthedepthof3cminplantdebrisfollowedby1cmdepth(13.00),whereaslowestunparasitizedpupaewererecordedat4cmdepth(11.66)after24hoursofageinsideplantdebris.Theanalysisofvarianceindicatedthattherewasnosignificantdifferenceamongtheparasitizedandunparasitizedpupaeoffliesinthedifferentdepthsofplantdebrisandageintervals(Plt;0.05).Itisconcludedthatthehighestparasitizedpupaeweredeterminedatplantdebrisof0cm,followedby2cm,5cm,4cm,1cm,and3cm,respectively.Incaseofageintervalsthehighestparasitizedpupaewererecordedafter72hoursoldpupaefollowedby48hours,96hoursand24hours,respectively.
