The Effects of Thallium Acetate on Hepatopancreatic Cells of Gammarus pulex (Crustacea: Amphipoda)

【 摘 要 】

Inourstudy,thetoxiceffectsofthalliumonGammaruspulexasensitiveindicatororganismforenvironmentalpollutionwasstudiedforcytologicalchanges.Accordingtostudiescarriedoutwiththalliumacetate,thischemicalwasobservedtoleadtocellularchangesinthehepatopancreasoftheGammaruspulex.Inourstudies,byusingEPAacutetoxicitytests,theLC50valuewasfoundtobe0.244mg/L.TheLC50valuewascalculatedusingtheEPAProbitAnalysisProgram.ThecytologicalchangestoGammaruspulexwhenexposedtothalliumwasexaminedwiththeTransmissionElectronMicroscope.Duetothalliumintoxication,degenerativechangeswerefrequentlypresentinthecellularmembranes;therewerechangesinthemitochondriaaspartialortotallossofcristae,therewasanincreaseinthenumberoflipiddroplets,lysosomesandautophagicvacuoleswerefoundtohaveincreasedinthehepatocytesandthenucleusshowedsignificantshrinkageanddeformation.Wealsoobservedfragmentationanddilationoftheroughendoplasmicreticulum(RER)andthenumberoflesionsalsoincreasedintheinnerandoutermitochondrialmembranesandintheRER.Alotoflipiddropletswerealsoobservedinthehepatocytes.
