【 摘 要 】

ColourpatternedshellsofthestrophomenidebrachiopodPlectodontamimica(Barrande,1879)aredescribed.TheshellscomingfromtheKotýsLimestone(LochkovFormation,Lochkovian)bearequidimensionalspotsspacedonshellsurfaceinadivaricatepattern,inconcentricbandsorincombinationofboth,indicatinghighphenotypicvariability.Colorationhasbeenobservedonventralbutrarelyalsoindorsalvalves.Divaricatepatternofspotsindicatesthatoriginofspotsislikelyconnectedwithneurosecretoryfunctionofthemantle.Similaroriginissuggestedforthetruncatedrugellaearrangedincheckerboardpatternthataredevelopedinsomestrophomenidbrachiopods,e.g.,Cymostrophia,Gunnarella,Ptychoglyptus,Sowerbyella(Rugosowerbyella).ThecamouflagefunctionisnotsuggestedforthecolourationofPlectodontabecauseitsventralvalvewaslikelyfaceddownward.
