【 摘 要 】

AdiverseassemblageofminutebrachiopodsisreportedfromtheVisean(lateAsbian)MeenymoreFormationexposedintheGleniffoutlier,CountySligo,northwestIreland.Theassemblageincludes14micromorphspeciesandjuvenilesoflargerspecies,inwhichspire-bearers(Athyridida,SpiriferidaandSpiriferinida)arethemostdiverse.Mostofthespeciesareleftinopennomenclatureasonlyfewspecimensshowinternalfeatures.However,anewspeciesoftheuncommonorthotetideDrahanorhynchus(D.gleniffensissp.nov.),previouslyknownfromtheMississippianoftheCzechRepublic,SpainandGermany,isdescribed.Inaddition,thelectotypeoftheathyridideHustediamultiplicata(deKoninck,1887),fromtheTournaisianofTournai(Belgium)isselectedandillustratedphotographicallyforthefirsttime.ThebrachiopodsfromGleniffareassociatedwithothersmall-sizedbenthicorganismsparticularlyechinodermsandmolluscs(gastropods,rostroconchs).Theenvironmentalfactors,whichleadtothesmallsize,arenotclearlyunderstoodalthoughtheyprobablyincludedacombinationofbiological(e.g.foodsupply)andphysicochemical(e.g.wateroxygenation)parameters.Salinityisprobablynotimplicatedbecausebrachiopodsandechinodermsaregenerallystenohaline.
