【 摘 要 】

Antineosteusrufussp.nov.fromtheupperEmsianoftheCzechRepublicisdescribedbasedontwofragmentsoflargedermalplatesdiscoveredintheSuchomastyLimestone.TheoriginallengthoftheanimalisinferredtohaveexceededthatofTityosteusrieversae-thelargestLowerDevonianplacodermrecordedsofar.TheoccurrenceofA.rufusinthePragueBasinisconsistentwithothergianthomostiidsinseveralareas.Theseanimalswereapparentlyadaptedtoplankton-feeding,althoughtheyappearedintheconditionsofcollapseddiversityoftheplankticcommunitiesduringthe“DevonianNektonRevolution”.Thissuccessfulfeedingstrategymadethemthefirstvertebratesoccupyingthenutrient-richecospaceproducingthelargestanimalsuptothepresent.
