TheanalysisofconodontfaunasfromtheComabellaFormationatLaGuardiad’AresintheSpanishCentralPyreneesimprovesthebiostratigraphicalcharacterizationofthisstratum.Forty-seventaxaspanningfromtheEifelianthroughtheLowerFrasnianareidentifiedanddescribed.ThelowerpartoftheformationstartsintheEifeliankockelianusZone.TheEifelian/GivetianboundarycanbeidentifiedbytheentryoftheindextaxonPolygnathushemiansatus.TheGivetianpartofthesectionistectonicallydisturbed,affectingmostlytheconfidentrecognitionoftherhenanus/varcusandtheUppervarcuszones.AllotherGivetianzonesareidentifiedeitherbythedefiningindextaxaorbythecharacterizingtaxa.TheAncyrodellasequencepermitsrecognitionofLowerFrasnianMN1-MN3zones.DirectcomparisonwithBoersma’sdatashowsastrongchronostratigraphicaldiscrepancyandtheirdataarereinterpreted.
