An unusual occurrence of the Laurentian phyllocarid crustacean Ceratiocaris papilio Salter in the lower Ludfordian (Silurian) of Bohemia (peri-Gondwana)

【 摘 要 】

Arichassemblage(n=223)ofwell-preservedphyllocaridcrustaceanremainsisdescribedfromoffshorecalcareousshalesoftheKopaninaFormation(Silurian,Ludlow,earlyLudfordian,SaetograptuslinearisBiozone)exposednearthevillageofVÅ¡eradice,SEofBeroun.SpecimensexaminedfallwithintheintraspecificvariabilityofCeratiocarispapilioSalterinMurchison,1859,whichiswidelydistributedintheLlandoveryandWenlockofLaurentia.Consequently,theBohemianspecimensrepresentthefirstoccurrenceofC.papiliooutsideofLaurentia.Additionally,thephyllocaridassemblagefromBohemiaisyoungerthanthatofLaurentia.InBohemia,Ceratiocarispapiliooccursinfinelylaminatedcalcareousshales.Itsabundancevariesdistinctlyfrombedtobed,andphyllocaridsarethedominantfaunalcomponentinonlyafewbeds.Phyllocaridsareassociatedwithcommongraptolitesandpelagicorthoceridswhileotherbenthicorganismsareseverelylimited.Isolatedorarticulatedfurcaeandtelsons,andisolatedmandiblesarethemostcommoncomponentsofthisassociation,butarticulatedabdominalsegmentswithcaudalappendages(butwithoutcarapaces)alsooccur.Anexceptional,slightlydisarticulatedspecimenhasarticulatedabdominalandpartialthoracicsegments,withmandiblespreservedinsitu.AdditionalpossibleoccurrencesofC.papilioandrelatedspeciesinBohemiaarealsodiscussed.
