【 摘 要 】
Ananalysisofthecrystallographictextureofnacre(mother-of-pearl)intheLateTriassicgastropodWortheniellacoralliophilaispresented.Theprimaryaimofthisstudywastotestthetimestabilityofthecrystallographictexturepatternofgastropodnacreoveranextremelylongtimespan.OurresultsshowthatthecrystallographicaxesofindividualaragoniteplateletsintheLateTriassicWortheniellacoralliophilahaveanidenticalarrangementtothoseinlivingvetigastropods.ThesamemicrostructureaswellasthecrystallographictextureofnacreinRecentandLateTriassicgastropodsimpliesthesamebiologicalmechanismsforitsformation.OurstudysuggeststhattheproteinscontrollingtheshapeandorientationofindividualnacreousplateletsinlivinggastropodshavenotchangedsincetheLateTriassic.Themolecularmechanismsdrivingtheoriginandthedevelopmentofgastropodnacrearethusextremelyoldandhaveremainedunchangedforatleast220millionyears.
