IntheDevoniantheMinusaIntermountainTrough(Basin)ofSiberiarepresentedariftstructurethatwasfilledwithrockswhichnowoccurasstrata-likebodiesinterpretedtobeofvolcanicorigin.Thecharacterofthemaficrocksincludingtheiruppercontactsandgeochronologicaldating,usingRb/Sr,40Ar/39Ar,andU/Pbmethods,suggeststheirsillorsubvolcanicnature.Porphyryanddoleritesillsandbasaltformedlater(385-405Mya)thanfelsicandandesiticvolcanicrocks(402-448Mya).Becausethesebodieswereearlierconsideredasvolcanicflows,itisimportanttorevisethegeologicalsuccessionoftheDevonianformationsdominatedbymaficigneousrocks
