ThemorphologicallydistinctnautiloidgeneraPhragmocerasandTubiferoceras(Discosorida,Phragmoceratidae)withanendogastricbreviconeshellandacontractedaperturearecharacteristiccomponentsoftheSiluriantropicalfaunasofBalticaandLaurentia.SevenpreviouslyknownspeciesofPhragmocerasfromthePragueBasin(Perunica)aremainlyfromcephalopodlimestonesoftheLudlowage.Amongstthese,twospeciesarerecordedfrombeyondthePragueBasin.PhragmocerasimbricatumisrecognisedinAvaloniaandBalticaanditsgeographicdistributionsuggestsapalaeobiogeographicalconnectionacrosstheRheicOceanduringtheearlierLudlowtime.PhragmoceraslabiosumwasrecordedintheBohemian-typeLudfordianfaunaofSardinia(peri-Gondwana).ThispaperdealswithseveralphragmoceridsfromthePragueBasinwhichhavenotbeenrecordedbefore.TheyincludePhragmocerasmuntheifromthelatestLlandoveryandearlierWenlock,TubiferocerasproboscoideumfromtheearlyWenlock,Phragmocerasacuminatum,Phragmocerassigmoideum,Phragmocerascf.undulatum,andPhragmocerascf.ventricosumfromthelateWenlock.AnewspeciesPhragmoceraskoneprusensissp.nov.fromtheearlyLudfordian(Ludlow)isestablished.ThesespeciesarecloselyrelatedorconspecifictothosedescribedfromGotland(Baltica),Ireland(Laurentia)orWales(Avalonia)andindicateanopenseawaybetweenthePragueBasin(Perunica)andBaltica,LaurentiaandAvalonia,respectively,sincethelatestLlandovery.Inaddition,occurrencesofphragmoceridsinthePragueBasinsuggestthatincontrasttotherestofperi-GondwananareasarelativetemperatewaterenvironmentwastypicalforPerunicasincelatestLlandovery.
