【 摘 要 】

Inthisstudy,wepresentsomeoftheresultsfromaresearchprojectconcerningpubliccaregivingservicesconductedintwomunicipalitiesinSierradeGata(Cáceres,Extremadura,Spain).Theinformationgatheredthroughthefieldworkunderscorestheimportanceofthedevelopmentofpublicwelfareservicesasafactorinchangingsocialrelationsandcommunityvaluesamongtheinhabitantsinthisruralzone.Ineffect,inthemunicipalitiesstudied,servicesprovidingassistancetoelderlyindividualswhoaredependenthavegainedasocioculturallegitimacywithinthelocalsociety.Therefore,throughacontinualprocess,formalandprofessionalcarehavebecomeinstitutionalizedandlegitimized.Atthesametime,carebyfamilymembersandinformalcarebetweenneighbourshasbeentransformedandreduced.Thesedynamicsillustratethechangesinsocialrelationsinthecommunityandachangeinthetraditionalvaluesassociatedwithcare.
