Inpatient antibiotics pharmacology and physiological use in Hayata-bad medical complex, Pakistan

【 摘 要 】

Antibioticsareusedcommonlyandaspowerfulmedicines,itwellknownthattheyaffectthevarietyandcompositionofthemicro-florawhichhasimportantphysiologicalroles,thereforeandforotherhealthcomplications,theaimofthecurrentstudywastoevaluateandestimatetheappropriatenessofantimicrobialdrugsuseinHayatabadMedicalComplex(HMC),Peshawar,Pakistan.Thepresentworkisbasedonthehospitalizedpatient#8217;scasestudies.Individualpatientswereinterviewedusingthepreparedquestionnaireforthestudy.Allhospitalizedpatientswhoreceivedantibioticswereevaluatedbyacross-sectionalstudy.Thetotalnumberofpatientsinterviewedwas270inmedicaldepartment.Accordingtoourstudyinmedicaldepartment,forprophylaxis64.3%ofantibioticwasused,whereas,anempiricalusewas35.7%.Prodigiousdoubleregimenofantibioticswasobservedthroughoutthestudy.Themostprescribedantimicrobialgroupispenicillinandfollowedbytetracycline,macrolides,quinolones,andcephalosporin.Furthermore,14.56%antibioticswereprescribedongenericnameand85.43%wereprescribedonthebasisofbrandnames.Takentogether,theantibioticuseinmedicaldepartmentwasunsatisfactoryandirrational.Insummary,inordertoprotectthephysiologicalfunctionsoffloramicroorganisms,acombinationofbothlimitation,continuouseducationofphysiciansandelaborationoflocalguidelinesappeartobenecessarytoimproverationalantibioticuse.(IJPPP1302005).
