【 摘 要 】
TheIstanbulregionisapartofabiggercontinentalfragmentcalledtheRhodope-PontideFragment.Withinthiscontinentalfragment,theIstanbulZoneconsists,atthebase,ofaNeoproterozoicmiddletohigh-gradecrystallinerockswithrelictsofvolcanicarcandcontinentalcrust,whicharenotobservedinIstanbulitself,butfarthereastnearZonguldak.Thisbasementisoverlainbyacontinuous,well-developedsedimentarysequenceextendingfromtheLowerOrdoviciantotheLowerCarboniferous.TheCarboniferousflyschmarkstheprogressofashorteningevent.ThiseventledtothefoldingandfaultingofthePalaeozoicsequencewhichwasintrudedbyanuppermostPermiangranitoidandunconformablyoverlainbytheUpperPermiantoLowerTriassicredsandstonesandconglomerates.TheTriassicseriesisbetterformedeastofIstanbulshowingatypicaltransgressivedevelopment.TheJurassicsequenceisabsent,mostlikelyasaresultoftheclosureofthePalaeo-TethysandtheresultantgenerationoftheCimmerides.ThereisasmalloutcropofLowerCretaceousshallowmarinesedimentaryrocksandamuchmorewidespreadUpperCretaceous-LowerEoceneclastic,carbonateandandesiticvolcanicrocksunconformablycoveringthePalaeozoic,TriassicandLowerCretaceousrocks.Thepre-BartonianclosureoftheIntra-PontidesuturealongtheIstanbulZoneasaconsequenceofitscollisionwiththeSakaryaContinentcreatedanotherepisodeofshorteninginthisarea,aneventthatwaspartoftheAlpideevolution.TheIntra-PontidesutureistheboundarybetweentheIstanbulandSakaryamagmaticarcsinnorthwesternTurkey.DuringtheCainozoic,thefirstpost-orogenicstructuresareLutetian-Bartoniannummuliticlimestones,whichthemselvesarecoveredbyaParatethyansequenceofMiocenelimestonesandsandstonesofmainlytheVallesianStage,whichincludetheKüçükçekmecevertebratebearinghorizon.ThePlioceneisentirelyfluviatileterrestrialclastics.ThePleistocenewasdepositedonanerosionsurfacewhichlaterbecamewarpedandintowhichtheoriginallyfluvialvalleyoftheBosphoruswasentrenched.ThisvalleywasinvadedbytheSeaduringtheHoloceneandcausedtherefillingoftheBlackSea.
