Detailedanalysisofc.900trilobitespecimensfromtheCambrianSeries2oftheHolyCrossMountainsinPoland,assignedhithertotoComluellaoratrixOrłowski,1985andComluellaigrzycznaeOrłowski,1985,hasshownthatthetwospeciesconstituteinfactamonospecificassemblagerepresentingBerabichiaoratrix(Orłowski,1985).Thedifferencespointedoutintheoriginaldiagnosesareobviouslycausedbytaphonomicprocesses.Totestthehypothesisofamonospecificassemblage,sixsagittalandexsagittalandfivetransverseparametersweremeasuredandcalculatedfor182best-preservedcranidia;fromthisdataset,121cranidiawiththecompletesetofmeasurementsweresubjectedtobivariateandmultivariatemorphometricanalysesanddiscriminantanalysis.ResultsofthemorphometricanalysispointtothesignificantroleoftectonicdeformationinthevariationofthestudiedsamplethatcouldhaveledOrłowski(1985)todistinguishtwoseparatespecies.Applicationofgraphictechniquesonphotographsofdistortedspecimenslyingindifferentdirectionswithregardtothestressfieldallowedtoobtainspecimensstatisticallyindistinguishableintermsoftheirsagittalandtransverseproportions,thusconfirmingthetectonicoverprintonthemorphologyoftheanalyzedtrilobitesample.
