【 摘 要 】

AnewspeciesofRhinocerotidae,Brachypotheriumminorn.sp.,fromtheEarlyMioceneofBuluk,northernKenya,isdescribed.Thenewspeciesshareswithothermembersofthegenuslargesexuallydimorphicincisors,flattenedbuccalwallsonitsmolars,andalowastragalus,butdiffersfromotherspeciesofBrachypotheriumRoger,1904initssmallsize,placementoftheorbit,havingwidelyseparatedtemporallines,andmoresimplemolarcrownmorphology.Acomparisonofthenewspecieswithotherbrachypotheressuggeststhatthenewspeciesmaybepresentatasmallnumberofothersites,andthatthebrachypotheregroupmaycontainmorethanoneAfricanlineage,addingtoourunderstandingofthediversityofAfricanrhinoceroses.
