【 摘 要 】

NewremainsofHypolagusbalearicusQuintana,Bover,Alcover,Agustíamp;Bailon,2010fromSesFontanelles(Eivissa)givesnewinformationconcerningthisEarlyPlioceneendemicleporidfromEivissaandMallorca(BalearicIslands,WesternMediterraneansea).ThebodymassestimatedforH.balearicusrangesfrom1.3to2.7kg,whichissmallincomparisontootherspeciesofthesamegenus.ThecraniumofH.balearicusisproportionallyshortandhasrelativelysmallerorbitsthanOryctolaguscuniculus(Linnaeus,1758).Remarkableintheusuallyconservative(inleporids)postcranialskeletonistheparticularmorphologyoftheelbow(withcrestsandpitswithasoftoutline)anditslengthinrelationtothelengthandthetransversaldiameterofthehumerus,whichyieldssimilarproportionstothoseoftheAmamirabbitPentalagusfurnessi(Stone,1900)fromAmami-OhshimaIslandandTokuno-ShimaIsland(Japan).Incontrast,thediaphysisoftheulnashowsarobustnesscomparabletothatobservedinsomemainlandleporidsofthegenusPronolagusLyon,1904orCaprolagusBlyth,1845.Inlightoftherathersmallsizeofthesampleandtheinformationyielded,twoalternativehypothesesareproposedtoexplaintheparticulartraitsoftheforelimbofH.balearicus:a)itisaleporidevolvedunderconditionsofinsularity;orb)thetraitsreflectanadaptationtoparticularecologicalconditions,notnecessarilylinkedtoanislandintheclassicalsenseoftheword.Theobserveddifferencesbetweenthisspecies(morphologyofp3aswellasparticulartraitsoftheforelimb)andotherspeciesofthegenusHypolagusDice,1917arelikelyindicativeoftheparticulartaxonomicalpositionofthistaxon.
